Baccarat Rules

Baccarat is played with 8 decks of cards. Cards below a value of 10 are said to be at their printed number while ten, J, Q, K are 0, and A are each applied a value of 1. Wagers are placed upon the ‘banker,’ the ‘player’ or for a tie (these aren’t actual individuals; they simply portray the 2 hands to be given out).

2 hands of 2 cards shall then be given out to the ‘banker’ and ‘player’. The total for any hand is the total of the 2 cards, but the first digit is removed. For example, a hand of 7 as well as 5 gives a value of two (7plus5=twelve; drop the ‘one’).

A third card could be played depending on the following protocols:

- If the player or banker has a tally of 8 or nine, then both gamblers stand.

- If the player has 5 or less, he/she hits. Players stand otherwise.

- If gambler stands, the banker hits of five or lesser. If the gambler hits, a chart is used to judge if the banker stands or hits.

Baccarat Odds

The bigger of the 2 scores is the winner. Successful bets on the banker payout 19 to 20 (even money minus a 5% commission. Commission is followed closely and cleared out when you leave the table so be sure to have $$$$$ left over before you leave). Winning bets on the player pay one to 1. Winning bets for tie as a rule pays eight to 1 but on occasion nine to one. (This is not a good wager as ties happen lower than 1 every ten hands. Definitely don’t try laying money on a tie. However odds are generously better – 9 to one versus eight to 1)

When played correctly, baccarat provides generally good odds, away from the tie wager of course.

Baccarat Tactics

As with many games, Baccarat has some common misconceptions. 1 of which is close to a roulette misconception. The past is surely not an actual indicator of future happenings. Keeping track of prior results on a chart is definitely a complete waste of paper … a slap in the face for the tree that gave its life to be used as our stationary.

The most accepted and feasibly most successful strategy is the one-3-two-6 technique. This technique is used to build up earnings and reducing risk.

start by gambling 1 unit. If you win, add 1 more to the two on the table for a total of 3 on the 2nd bet. If you win you will have six on the table, subtract 4 so you have two on the third gamble. If you win the third gamble, add two to the 4 on the table for a grand total of 6 on the fourth wager.

If you lose on the 1st bet, you take a loss of 1. A win on the first bet followed up by loss on the second will create a loss of 2. Wins on the first two with a loss on the 3rd gives you a profit of two. And wins on the first 3 with a loss on the fourth mean you break even. A win on all four bets leaves you with 12, a profit of ten. In other words that you can get beaten the 2nd bet 5 times for every successful streak of 4 bets and still break even.
