Rules of Baccarat

Baccarat Protocols

Baccarat is played with 8 decks of cards. Cards which are valued less than 10 are counted at their printed value whereas 10, J, Q, K are 0, and A are each applied a value of 1. Bets are placed on the ‘banker,’ the ‘player’ or for a tie (these aren’t actual gamblers; they simply appear as the 2 hands to be played).

Two hands of two cards shall then be dealt to the ‘banker’ … ‘player’. The value for every hand shall be the total of the two cards, but the initial digit is removed. For example, a hand of seven and 5 produces a value of two (sevenplus5=12; drop the ‘1′).

A 3rd card might be given depending on the foll. protocols:

- If the bettor or banker has a total score of 8 or 9, then both bettors stand.

- If the gambler has five or lower, he/she hits. Players stand otherwise.

- If player stands, the banker hits of five or less. If the gambler hits, a chart is used in order to determine if the banker stands or hits.

Baccarat Odds

The higher of the two scores will be the winner. Victorious wagers on the banker pay at nineteen to twenty (even odds less a 5% commission. Commission is followed closely and paid out when you leave the table so ensure you have $$$$$ remaining before you leave). Winning bets on the player pay one to 1. Winning bets for tie customarily pays out at 8 to 1 but occasionally nine to 1. (This is not a good gamble as ties occur less than one every 10 hands. Avoid laying money on a tie. However odds are generously better – 9 to 1 vs. 8 to one)

Played correctly, baccarat presents fairly good odds, aside from the tie bet of course.

Baccarat Tactics

As with just about all games, Baccarat has some established misunderstandings. 1 of which is very similar to a roulette misconception. The past is in no way an indicator of future actions. Staying abreast of prior conclusions on a chart is a waste of paper as well as a slap in the face for the tree that gave its life for our stationary needs.

The most accepted and probably most successful tactic is the 1-three-2-6 scheme. This scheme is employed to maximize winnings and limiting risk.

Begin by gambling 1 unit. If you win, add one more to the 2 on the table for a total of three on the second bet. If you win you will have 6 on the table, clear away four so you have two on the 3rd bet. If you win the third bet, add 2 to the four on the table for a value of six on the 4th gamble.

If you lose on the 1st bet, you take a loss of 1. A win on the 1st bet quickly followed by loss on the 2nd brings about a loss of 2. Wins on the 1st 2 with a loss on the 3rd gives you a profit of two. And wins on the first three with a loss on the 4th mean you break even. Getting a win on all four bets leaves you with 12, a profit of 10. In other words you can lose the 2nd bet 5 times for every successful streak of four bets and still break even.
